Readers Thoughts
Challenging Karma is a gritty and troubling book that is so worth reading. It doesn’t really give insight into the perpetrators of serial crime. And in this sense, it looks at opportunity and power rather than the flaws of the women who raised them, like much of the psychological knowledge shared about killers.
I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a riveting read that is hard to put down.

The story follows four wealthy men who turn their predictable lives into a gripping “who did it” mystery.

Janice N Nistor WritesRead moreSurviving Karma isn’t an easy read, but it’s an honest one. What struck me most is how the book treats karma not as something mystical or tidy, but as something deeply human. Actions ripple. Trauma doesn’t stay put. The past doesn’t politely wait its turn. The story shows how harm can echo across years and relationships, and how survival doesn’t look heroic it looks messy, quiet, and sometimes lonely.
Our group kept coming back to how raw the emotional landscape felt. There’s no romanticizing pain here. The characters don’t “heal” on a schedule, and justice doesn’t arrive wrapped in a bow. Instead, there’s accountability, memory, and the slow, uneven process of reclaiming yourself after damage has been done.
This book sparked some of the most intense discussions we’ve ever had about responsibility, about forgiveness, and about whether surviving is sometimes the bravest thing a person can do.
Rupert Ashworth NetGalleyRead more‘Surviving Karma’ Book Two—WOW, an intriguing read. So much going on and so many interesting characters.
Cops are dying and not because of work. They seem to be random targets, but are they?
The informants on the street try to help, but it’s hard to understand the cryptic mumbling that comes from them.
Local gangs are known by hyphens and colors. The girl and the Cop that got Pin arrested will pay, with their lives if he has any say.
The story bounced around a lot at first, then not. It was fairly easy to follow the trail and dialogs.
Enjoyable to read a story with no mistakes. Looking forward to my next read from this author.

Fantastic Book
Jessica Vroman GoodreadsRead moreThis book 'Surviving Karma' lingered in my thoughts far longer than I expected.
The strength of Surviving Karma lies in its emotional realism. The characters feel shaped by what they’ve endured, not defined by it. I appreciated that the book doesn’t offer easy redemption or punishment just consequence.
Some parts were emotionally draining, and I needed breaks while reading. But that might actually speak to how effective the story is.
Jonathan Reed GoodreadsRead moreOur book club picked Surviving Karma because we wanted something “serious.” None of us expected it to hit this hard.
This book doesn’t tell you what to feel. It places you inside the aftermath of damage and lets you sit there. Karma here isn’t mystical or moralized. It’s consequence. It’s memory. It’s the way yesterday never really stays in yesterday.
What stayed with me most was how survival is portrayed. Not triumphant. Not inspiring in a neat way. Just ongoing. The characters don’t get clean arcs or satisfying emotional victories. They endure. They react. They carry what they were given.
Our discussion went long because no one could reduce this story to a simple takeaway. It challenged how we think about responsibility, blame, and what it means to keep living when justice feels incomplete.
Penelope Hayes GoodreadsRead moreI went into Inheriting Karma expecting a mystery, maybe some crime or supernatural twist, but this book was something else entirely. It’s mysterious, sure, but not in the usual “whodunit” way. It’s like stepping into someone’s mind after everything has fallen apart. The story is fragmented, poetic, and even a little trippy. It talks about guilt, fate, and what happens when your past won’t stop chasing you. It’s weird, dark, and hypnotic in a way that’s hard to explain and hard to look away from.
Book Reviewer GoodreadsRead more'Inheriting Karma - I really enjoyed getting to read this book and how it was used in this series, it left me wanting to read the crossover book and getting to go on this journey with the characters. Mark Nistor was able to weave a strong writing style and thought the overall concept was really well done. It had everything that I was wanting and so glad I got to read this.
Kathryn M NetGalleyRead more'Challenging Karma' - During our Book Club meeting, we could not stop talking about how raw and honest this book felt. It touched each of us differently but with the same intensity. I personally admired the courage behind the storytelling. It gave me chills in the best way. The author deserves every bit of praise for writing something so meaningful.
